Girls4Goals

Forsports Foundation Flagship Programme

Girls4Goals is the flagship empowerment programme of Forsports Foundation for girls aged 10 to 17 in underserved communities across Ghana. Using football as the entry point, the programme delivers structured, community-based interventions that combine sport, education, life skills, health awareness, leadership development, and environmental responsibility. How it works

Football, life skills, and safe spaces working together

Through structured football training, mentorship, and life skills workshops focused on health, education, and leadership, Girls4Goals empowers girls aged 10–17 to build confidence, resilience, and the skills to shape their futures.

Environmental stewardship is embedded through Clean Pitch activities, where girls lead sanitation and environmental awareness actions in their communities, strengthening leadership beyond the pitch.

Programme Pillars

Six pillars of empowerment

Girls4Goals is built on six interconnected pillars that work together to create lasting, holistic change for girls and their communities. Each pillar reinforces the others to deliver meaningful, sustainable outcomes.

Football Training and Sports Development

Football is the foundation of Girls4Goals, providing girls with a safe and consistent space to participate in sport, build confidence, and develop teamwork. Sessions are structured, supportive, and designed to encourage active participation, discipline, and enjoyment of the game.

Life Skills and Leadership Development

The programme supports girls to build confidence, communicate effectively, and develop leadership skills that extend beyond sport. Through interactive learning, participants are encouraged to think critically, set goals, and take positive steps in their personal development.

Health, Wellbeing, and Menstrual Hygiene Education

Girls4Goals provides essential health education to support girls' wellbeing, dignity, and continued participation in school and community life. The programme creates safe spaces for open learning on personal care, safety, and safeguarding awareness.

Environmental and Climate Awareness

The programme integrates environmental responsibility into youth development by encouraging girls to understand local environmental challenges and take practical action. Activities promote awareness, care for the environment, and community responsibility.

Capacity Building for Teachers and Mentors

Teachers, coaches, and mentors are supported to strengthen delivery and ensure sustainability of the programme within schools and communities. Training focuses on inclusive coaching, safeguarding, and youth development approaches that reinforce positive outcomes for girls.

Community Engagement

Girls4Goals works closely with parents, caregivers, schools, and community leaders to build a supportive environment around each participant. This shared engagement helps strengthen participation, trust, and long-term impact within communities.

Impact & Stories

Voices from the Community and Schools

The impact of Girls4Goals is best understood through the experiences of the girls, teachers, and community members who engage with the programme. Their reflections highlight changes in confidence, participation, learning, and leadership, showing how sport creates meaningful change beyond the pitch.

Mr Waseem Mumuni, Headteacher at Adentia St Mary's Primary School
Forsports Foundation's programmes have had a tremendous effect on our pupils. The football sessions have strengthened confidence, teamwork, and discipline, and the distribution of football kits has increased participation among both boys and girls. The menstrual health education and provision of sanitary pads have also helped girls to stay in school and take part fully. Overall, the programme has supported improved attendance, engagement, and wellbeing across the school.

The programme has had a visible impact on the girls' confidence, attendance, and participation in class. The combination of sport and life skills makes learning practical and engaging, especially for girls who were previously quiet or disengaged.

Mr. Kofi Asante

JHS Teacher, Presby Junior High School, Odomase

I have seen a big change in my daughter. She is more confident, talks openly about her health, and takes her school work seriously. Girls4Goals has supported not only the girls but also families in our community.
