About Forsports Foundation

Playing for a bigger goal

Football is where we start, but transformation is what we build. Founded in Sunyani, Ghana, Forsports Foundation uses sport as a vehicle for education, health, gender equality, and lasting community impact.

Our Story

From a football academy to a community development platform

Founded in 2005 in Sunyani, Forsports Foundation was established by Ghanaian-Irish social impact leader Christopher Forsythe as a community-based football initiative inspired by early engagement with Glentoran Football Club in Northern Ireland. What began as a grassroots effort to create access to football for disadvantaged young people gradually evolved into a structured academy providing coaching, mentorship, and safe spaces for children and young people in underserved communities.

From the outset, the work was shaped by a simple but persistent reality: access to opportunity is not equal. For many young people, sport became an entry point for structure, discipline, confidence, and belonging, particularly in environments where wider support systems were limited.

In 2014, the initiative formally transitioned into Forsports Foundation and was registered as a Non-Profit Organisation with the Department of Social Welfare in Ghana (Reg. No. D.S.W/6205). This marked an important shift from informal community activity to a structured sport-for-development organisation with a clearer long-term focus on social impact.

Today, the Foundation integrates sport with education support, health and wellbeing, gender equality, safeguarding, life skills development, and environmental awareness. Delivered in partnership with schools, communities, and local institutions, its programmes are designed to be inclusive, locally grounded, and responsive to real community needs, with a focus on creating sustainable pathways for youth empowerment and development.

2005

Grassroots beginning

A community-based football initiative inspired by Glentoran Football Club in Northern Ireland. Following his adoption by the late George Christopher Forsythe, Christopher moved to live in Belfast, where a simple request to Glentoran Football Club for end-of-season kits to take back to Ghana for young people to play with during school holidays became a defining moment.

2014

Foundation registered

The initiative evolved from a grassroots community football project into a more structured sports-for-development organisation, formally adopting the Forsports Foundation name. Building on years of community engagement and growing impact in Sunyani and surrounding areas, it was registered with Ghana’s Department of Social Welfare (Reg. No. D.S.W/6205).

Today

Integrated community development platform

Programmes now integrate sport with life skills, education, health and wellbeing, gender equality, menstrual hygiene education, environmental awareness, and sustainable water solutions — delivered in partnership with schools, communities, and local institutions, alongside international collaborators including KVMO e.V.

Cole Auchincloss, International Youth Ambassador | ASL Class of 2027 | London

Cole Auchincloss

International Youth Ambassador | ASL Class of 2027 | London

Cole Auchincloss is a student at the American School in London and has been passionate about football for over 15 years. For him, football has always been more than a sport. It has been a space for connection, healthy competition, personal growth, and daily discipline. Through football, he has built friendships across diverse backgrounds and witnessed firsthand how the sport unites communities.

His commitment to youth development was strengthened through volunteering at Westway Football Centre with Bloomsbury Football in London. Working with local children, he encountered stories that deeply impacted him. Some spoke about food insecurity, while others shared that they could not afford boots or basic equipment. The experience reinforced his awareness of the privileges he has enjoyed and inspired him to help create equal opportunities for others.

As International Youth Ambassador for Forsports Foundation, Cole advocates for inclusive access to sport as a pathway to confidence, belonging, and personal development. He believes football can provide a safe and positive environment where young people build friendships, develop life skills, and grow both on and off the pitch. Through his role, he is committed to supporting programmes that ensure children, regardless of background, have the opportunity to experience the transformative power of sport.
