Empowering Girls Through Football and Menstrual Health Education in Kwatire

10/12/25, 10:00 am

Forsports Foundation delivered football activities and menstrual health education in Kwatire to empower girls and promote gender inclusion.

Forsports Foundation held a community based Girls4Goals engagement event at Kwatire in the Sunyani West District that brought together school girls, teachers, volunteers and local stakeholders to strengthen awareness around gender equality, football participation and menstrual hygiene management.

The programme combined friendly football matches with practical menstrual health education led by volunteer nurses. Girls learned how to manage their periods safely and confidently, while also addressing harmful myths that often keep many of them out of school and away from sport. Sanitary pads were distributed to all participating girls to ensure immediate support beyond the event.

Football sessions introduced girls to structured play and teamwork, creating a safe and encouraging environment where they could express themselves freely. The event also offered boys the opportunity to participate, helping shift attitudes around girls’ involvement in sports and reinforcing mutual respect.

This initiative is part of Forsports Foundation’s broader commitment to promoting safe spaces, gender inclusion, and youth development across the Bono Region. Through the Girls4Goals programme, regular community engagements are helping more girls stay active, stay in school, and build confidence through both knowledge and sport.
